Here’s what I ordered () (Incipio Dermashot for iPod Touch 4G)ĭefinitely think the included stand is a stroke of genius in its simple design (would have loved to have this on a couple of overseas flights the past two years, pre-iPad). Will work for the time being, until something irresistible comes out. Not loose enough to be a problem.actually, “loose” overstates it a bit.just not as tight a fit as what I’m used to. The power and volume switches are covered by the usual raised “buttons.” The power button takes a little extra oomph to make work since the case fits a little less snug than the Incase I’m accustomed to from my previous iPod Touch. Very attactive.Īll openings clear the space they need to-camera lens, speaker, earphone jack, etc. Definitely the low profile look I wanted feels and looks like black suede. That would pull it in right above the total capacity of my PB HD. The only difference is:Īnd if Toshiba can make a 6-layer disc.

In addition, it also supports Dolby Digital Plus and the lossless formats Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD. The two more advanced video codecs can typically attain four hours of high quality video.įor audio, BD-ROM supports up to 7.1 channel surround sound using the linear (uncompressed) PCM, Dolby Digital and DTS formats also used on DVDs. Realistically, when using MPEG-2, quality considerations would limit the publisher to around two hours of high-definition content on a single-layer BD-ROM.

In addition, it also supports Dolby Digital Plus and the lossless formats Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD.ĭecode at least the following codecs: MPEG-2, the standard used for DVDs MPEG-4's H.264/AVC codec and VC-1, a codec based on Microsoft's Windows Media 9. HD DVD can be mastered with up to 7.1 channel surround sound using the linear (uncompressed) PCM, Dolby Digital and DTS formats also used on DVDs. The same video compression techniques: MPEG-2, Video Codec 1 (VC1) and H.264/MPEG-4 AVC. The real deal about codecs from Wikepedia: The official statements by the Benghazi-based rebel organization seem to indicate that Tobruk's government is sitting on the fence a bit in officially joining their movement, even though they are obviously anti-Gaddafi. One point that has gone largely undiscussed is the situation in Tobruk - it's a critical port city and so far has seen little if any conflict. Stalemate plays into the hands of the rebels in the long term. Any attempt to re-take rebel-held territory will be opposed by both the rebels and the UN-mandated coalition. At best he can try to hold on to Tripoli and the remaining loyalist towns. Currently they have a strong hand - as long as they can keep Gaddafi at bay (effectively with coalition help) he will go nowhere. The rebels' policy is ending the Gaddafi regime, and they have refused to negotiate on that point. But it is the Libyan people who ultimately must remove him. I think that allowing Gaddafi to remain in power at this point is not an option for anything but the immediate short-term. however that may not happen if he tries to all of a sudden play ball a bit. Getting Gaddafi to step down seems like a logical solution. They will have to be coaxed into taking any sort of action. They called for the NFZ, then they backed away, and now they are supporting it again. interesting progress this UN decision has become, the Arab partners seem to now be on the fence. In the end I just hope this is a bogus rumor. Further I'm more surprised that this rumor is desktop related as a touch screen might actually get used more on a laptop. In the end I believe you are right about people getting suckered into something they might not ever use. The problem is these are not the apps that most people will be making use of. On the contrary there are apps that can effectively leverage a touch screen. However that doesn't mean that touch screen are never useful on the desktop. There is nothing about Apples GUI that can improve this as it is more of a physical ergonomic issue.

I work in a plant full of touch screens supporting various systems and frankly they all suck for general run of the mill interaction or data entry. Not in every case but certainly in most cases a Touch screen on the desktop, supporting most productivity apps, is a TERRIBLE idea.

If Apple introduces a touch iMac it's clearly a money grab, to sucker the public into thinking touch is somehow superior when in fact it is vastly inferior on a desktop monitor. When did the keyboard and mouse become public enemy number 1? These technologies have been perfected over years and years of real use.
